Welcome to ARSL

Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library

ARSL Officers attended ALA Mid-Winter held in Boston this year and toured the Boston Public Library. It was absolutely breathtaking in beauty and majesty.

Message from the President

Welcome to our new website! And a huge thanks to all the attendees, speakers, and exhibitors at the 2009 conference in Gatlinburg, TN. It was a remarkable and refreshing event. If you were not able to attend, be sure to check out the programs and handouts here to see what you missed – and mark your calendar now for the 2010 conference in Denver, Co, Oct. 14th-16th. Plans are under way for this joint conference with ABOS and it’s sure to be “Magic in the Mile High City.”

In keeping with our brand new logo, this year we’re focused on “Strengthening our roots and branching out.” We hope to hear about the amazing things that happen in your libraries every day as well as how the association can best support your efforts. ARSL is a volunteer, member-driven organization, and we want to keep our members actively engaged. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining today and if you’re already a member, think about serving on an ARSL committee. See you in Denver!

Timothy Owens

From the Immediate Past President

Welcome to the new ARSL website! We hope you will return often, participate in discussions, and make connections. We will be adding features and making adjustments this next year. Please let us know what is working or not working and what we can do to make it better. The website contains information about the Association, the officers, the committees, on-going projects and minutes from meetings–all the things you need to know to stay current with ARSL. We’ll also have several members writing a blog.

Active members make a strong association so keep sharing your ideas and questions. I know I love hearing about what is going on in your libraries. And keep sending pictures of your buildings. We’ll change the pictures on the website each month. You never know when it will be your library on the top of the page!

Patty Hector
ARSL President 2008-2009
